Why You Must Have Muscle In Order To Lose Weight And Stay Fit
Staying fit and healthy is a significant challenge for most people. One of the key components to succeeding long term with any fitness program is adding enough muscle. The important point about muscle is that it burns calories all the time so even putting on a little muscle can result in your body burning a lot of fat on a daily basis. The most effective way to add muscle is through weight training. If you have never done weight training before then consider joining a gym and taking a few personal training sessions so you can learn the proper form and technique for the exercises so that you get the best results and avoid unnecessary injuries.
Do not train too much:
Over training is a common problem amongst a lot of people that train with weights. The key is to train the right amount and give your body enough time to rest and recover. You do not need to spend hours and hours to train in order to get good results. 3 sets is often enough with most exercises with the the first set being a warm up, the second is the heavy set and the last is the cool down. Even if all you do is a handful of exercises like the bench press for the upper body and the squat for the lower body then that can be effective.
Women must add and maintain enough muscle mass too if they want to be able to lose fat all over their body and stay thin. As long as they do not lift too much weight they will not bulk up like men and also the lower testosterone levels in women means that they cannot really add that much muscle even if they wanted to unless they take some kind of additional hormone supplement. Of course weight training is only one component to any effective weight loss plan, other aspects include proper dieting and doing regular cardiovascular exercises.
Doing regular aerobic training will increase your overall metabolism and allows you to eat properly and still not gain weight. Do not do starvation diets as they are not effective and can be bad for your health since you are depriving yourself of important nutrients including fats. It is really not fat that makes people overweight, it is a slow metabolism that does not burn enough calories. There are people that eat quite a lot of food but do not gain weight at all since they are very active and do regular aerobic exercises and strength training to maintain strong and healthy muscles.
